Tekscan
To evaluate a patient’s bite, Dr. Monson relies on a computerized
device called a Tekscan or T-scan (computer aided measuring system
registers optimal bite registration). An improper bite (how the
teeth meet, or come together, when the mouth is closed) can lead
to discomfort, contribute to jaw joint problems, make eating
difficult, and eventually lead to tooth loss. With T-Scan, a
sensor scans the entire mouth and measures the amount of force
on each pair of teeth.
Articulating paper alone cannot
measure timing and force, critical information needed to correctly
recalibrate a person’s bite. If you have cracked or broken
teeth, or just wear and tear from grinding or clinching, ask
Dr. Monson to evaluate your bite using today’s technology – T-scan.
